I know you guys haven't heard from us much, so what have we been up to? Here's a quick summary:
Firstly my apologies for being so slow with updates. I'm an introvert by nature, so I've never been good at socializing, and the older I get, the faster time flies. I didn't realize it had been a year since the last update.
I'm a pretty private person so I don't post much about our personal lives, and stick to business news but I thought I'd take a moment to show some of what we've been up to.
Most of my time last year was spent on other projects and preparing to move to the US (more on that in another post). I haven't been getting nearly the knife work done that I've been wanting to, but I've been committing more time to it recently.
One reason I haven't gotten as much knife work done as I wanted to is because I take a lot of time off to enjoy life. One of the biggest regrets people have on their deathbed is working too hard, and not enjoying life enough. That lesson was driven home with my grandparents. They were both handworkers, from him being a decorated WW2 vet, and her being a Rosie the Riveter type worker, to them owning a gas station, apple orchard, and him working overtime at GM for 40yrs, and her raising a large family. They planned to travel a lot after retirement. Unfortunately, she got ill and passed away before they could travel much, and like many others he said "if I knew it would end like this, I would have worked less hard". That stuck with me. So I'm guilty of not working as much as I could, but enjoying life a lot more for it.
The pics above are a snapshot of what life is like here, and us enjoying it.I hope you all have time to go out and enjoy life as well. "You can make a fortune, spend it all, and make another one, but time once spent can never be gotten back."
One thing that wasn't enjoyable this year were some health issues. The foremost being an emergency appendectomy. Within 24hrs I went from feeling perfectly fine, to biting a towel to try not and scream from the pain once it burst. High fever, delirium, extreme pain, etc...no fun. But the surgery went well, and I healed up over a month. It did set my back timewise however.
Another health issue setting me back is my weight. I enjoy eating too much, and I was adding pounds on each year. I hit 268# before I decided its ridiculous and got serious about losing weight. The surgery set me back on my goals, but I did shed 53# so far. Around another 15-20 to go to hit my goal. I also have some preexisting issues I've been working on (sciatica from one leg being longer than the other, shoulder impingement, etc) Between weights, cardio, rehab, stretching, travel to the gym, etc it eats up 2hrs a day 5 days a week...and tires me out. Less time/energy to spend on knives. But physically I'm feeling far better.
I'll wrap this post up, but I'll be making some more knife-centric posts asap.(what we've been working on....our upcoming move to the US, and what it means for Ecos....infused Kydex sheaths...etc) I just wanted to give a glimpse into our lives, since I rarely do.
Thank you very much for supporting us!
